RWN in partnership with the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is currently implementing a project to contribute to the fight against domestic violence and gender based violence. The project’s objective is to see Rwandan communities especially women and children victims and survivors of gender based violence and their families in Nyarugenge (Rwezamenyo, Kimisagara & Cyahafi Sectors) and Gatsibo Districts (Kageyo, Murambi & Gasange Sectors) actively engaged to address and fight gender based violence in their communities for improved socio-economic welfare. The EDV&GBV project is being implemented with the following 3 results expected to be achieved: –
- A system led by community paralegals is set up in Nyarugenge and Gatsibo Districts for gender based violence monitoring and outreach services within these communities
- Communities especially vulnerable women, children and men are informed and aware about existing policies and legal frameworks as well as their rights in relation to gender equality, gender based violence and women’s empowerment
- Vulnerable women and children victims/survivors of GBV are receiving services including psycho-social counseling, legal, medical, referrals and accompaniment and economic empowerment from the RWN center for survivors of GBV in Nyarugenge District.
